Principal's Newsletter, Term 2, Week 3, 2014

posted Jun 1, 2014, 1:14 AM by Unknown user

Congratulations to our many athletes who have won Zone Cross Country for the 8th consecutive year. This fabulous achievement attests to the talent, commitment and willingness to participate of so many of our students.

Congratulations also to our Table Tennis team who have won the Sydney West Table Tennis Knockout tournament.

Over the last 6 weeks, our Canteen Committee have been working through the canteen tender process. We are pleased to announce that the successful tenderer was Atrium Catering, a very well established and experienced school canteen operator. Atrium will begin operation on Monday June 2nd. I would like to acknowledge the wonderful service to our school of Mrs Shirley Kwan, as our Canteen Manager for two days a week and also to Mrs Beverley Ferguson and Mrs Vivian La who have stepped back into the canteen to assist us this term.  A huge thank you to our many volunteers who have served us so well in the canteen for many years. We will be holding a thank you morning tea in the next few weeks to commend and thank volunteers.

Our Year 11 students have returned from their camp. Thank you to the many teachers that gave up so much time to supervise this wonderful camp. Thank you to Ms Kristy Webb for her organisation of the camp. Thank you to Mr Long, Mr Wilson, Ms Zhu, Mr Gerlach, Ms Ng, Mr Goggin and Mr Driscoll for attending the camp.

NAPLAN and the Year 8 and 10 exams have progressed well. Year 7 and 9 will continue their half yearly exams next week.

The school musical – The Gipsy Baron – is fast approaching. Tickets are now on sale for Thursday 29th, Friday 30th and Saturday 31st May. Each performance will begin at 7pm. The musical is a very rich part of our history and traditions. The cast and chorus of 2014 are working incredibly hard to ensure this is another musical to remember. It is also extra special as it is Alan Best’s 40th Musical – such a magnificent record. Please let our ex students and parents know of the dates and please ensure that you are able to bring the whole family along. I would also like to thank Mr Patrick Wong, Ms Jenny Burgess, Ms Su Annetts, Mr Graeme Widmer and Mr Ian Goggin for their fabulous efforts in the production phase.
