Welcome back to Ruse in 2016 – another wonderful year ahead. We begin 2016 with a celebration of our fabulous HSC success in 2015. Our 2015 cohort certainly made us all very proud.
Nine students received the highest ATAR of 99.95:
Nominations to Encore, Onstage and Art Express
First Place in Course NSW:
NSW State Rankings:
We again topped the honours list in the HSC with 74.12% of our cohort achieving a band 6. It was the 20th Year that James Ruse was recognised as achieving Rank 1 in the NSW HSC. Congratulations to all our students who sat their HSC exams in 2015 and a special mention to our students who did so well in Information Processes and Technology, Software Design and Development, Agriculture, PDHPE and Music 2. Congratulations also their wonderful teachers and families who are such an important part of this success.
Congratulation to Aniruddh Chennapragada of Year 10 who is one of six students selected by STANSW to represent Australia at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Phoenix, Arizona. It is the world’s largest pre-college celebration of science that brings together students from more than 70 countries to showcase their talent on an international stage. Students will submit their work to judging by doctoral level scientists—and have the opportunity to compete for scholarships, tuition grants, internships, scientific field trips and the grand prize of $75,000. His project focuses on finding ways to optimise and strengthen composite bioplastics. This is such an exciting adventure and we wish Aniruddh much success.
It was fantastic to see our new Year 7 students embracing the challenges of our Gifted Program this week. Our Year 11 Peer Support Leaders led fabulous sessions on Thursday.
Thank you to Ms Ng and Ms Belevski, our Year 7 Advisors, for ensuring a very warm start to the year. Thank you also to Ms St Louis, Ms Walker and Ms Novotni.
