Last Friday Daniel Selvadurai of Year 9 competed in the Legacy Public Speaking Finals and was both a credit to himself and our school. Ms Brooks, Mr McFadyen, Ms Ng and two Year 9 classes were fabulous supporters and a very impressed audience. The competition this year was won by a student from our neighbouring high school, Crestwood. Daniel’s speaking skills have also earned him a place in the Western Sydney JSDC debating team. We wish him every success in this new endeavour. Ms Brooks has created and grown a fabulous debating program at our school and is also the Western Sydney coordinator. Mr McFadyen, for many years, has run our public speaking programs. Ms Ng, pictured above, is the fabulous Year 9 assistant year advisor. Thank you to Ms Brooks, Ms Ng and Mr McFadyen.

On November 10th we will be holding a very special ceremony at JRAHS to honour our former students who are also veterans, having served as part of the Australian Defence Forces overseas. Our cadets will parade to honour the unveiling of our new Veteran’s Honour Board. We hope to welcome back many of our ex-students on this occasion.

Next Tuesday we will be given possession of the first two of our three new labs. Students will begin having lessons later next week. We aim for every class to have at least one new lesson in the labs to enjoy the fabulous new facilities. On the joint meeting of the CoJR and Mother’s Club on Thursday 12th November we will officially open the labs and allow parents a glimpse of the wonderful facilities their fundraising has contributed to.
