Principal's Newsletter, Week 5, Term 4, 2015

posted Nov 13, 2015, 12:21 PM by Unknown user

Andrea Luo’s beautiful artwork “Light in Motion” has been nominated for Art Express 2016. Congratulations to Andrea and also to our fabulous Visual Arts teacher, Mr Ian Goggin.

As mentioned in earlier newsletters, 5 Informatics students, 3 Mathematics students and 22 Science students have been invited to the 2015-16 schools of excellence. 30 invitations is a record number – well done everyone. A lovely article on the science schools can be found in the following link:

Our Zero Robotics team competed on Saturday and now continue at the virtual level – we wish them well in this very new experience.

This weekend our Agricultural teachers share experiences and resources with the other Agricultural High Schools and also Lighthouse schools. Thank you to Mr Mark Long, Mr Richard Grant, Ms Katie Twomey, Ms Sofia Hameed, Mr David Pronger and Mr Steve Zounis for participating in the Agricultural High Schools’ Forum.

Next Tuesday 10th November we will hold our dedication to our former students who are veterans at 9.45am. The cadets will parade before our former students.

On Thursday 12th November, the Mother’s Club and CoJR will hold their joint meeting at 9.45am. This special meeting will feature a talk on cybersafety and games addiction by Mr Long. We would also love parents to join us at the opening of the first two science labs – we will officially open the labs and also spend time looking through this wonderful new facility. The first lab C2.1 has been funded completely by the donations of our parents to the CoJR. We are so appreciative of this practical support our parents give to the school. Mothers’ Club have also fundraised through their functions, events, food days and entertainment book sales to be able to provide new equipment worth $30,000 for the laboratories.

Many of our students will join the combined choir to perform on Sunday night at the Town Hall at 7pm in the Celebration Sing Out. This fabulous event will raise funds for musical therapy.  Thank you Mrs Hann for coordinating our choir’s participation in this event.
