The JRAHS Interact club has been very active over the last weeks. Each year Interact runs the Musical canteen and donates all profits to charity. This year Interact has decided to raise funds for the organisation “Shelter Box” which provides essential supplies to disaster relief victims. On both Saturday and Sunday, students of Interact joined forces with Ryde Rotary to collect for the Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal.

More fabulous DaVinci Decathlon results. Year 10 came 1st in Cryptography, 3rd in Maths and Chess. Year 11 achieved 1st place in Philosophy, 2nd in Art and Poetry, 3rd in English, 3rd in Maths and Chess. From all accounts they had a wonderful and challenging experience.

Thank you to the many parents that attended Year 7 Parent Teacher Afternoon. Thank you also to parents that were able to attend the CoJR Meeting and listen to the guest presenters from Sydney University. The presentation was fabulous and gave a wide range of information of courses and scholarships.

Jeffrey Khoo (11) has progressed to the Plain English Speaking Semi Finals and we wish him well. Jeffrey has also been elected Leader of the Opposition of the YMCA NSW Youth Parliament and is also the Minister of Education. Afif Hossain, Spencer Hu, Malcolm Zou, Edward Jiang, Helen Park, Cherry Hu, Daniel Yan and Annie Lim have also been selected to be part of Youth Parliament. We wish them all well as they advocate for ideas they are passionate about.

Please come along and enjoy the sensational sound of our String Ensembles on Tuesday night. Dr Clarke has reached an incredible standard with our talented students.

I have included an article that was in the Sydney Morning Herald celebrating the fantastic achievement of our ex-student Cleo Loi.

Congratulations to all our students who competed this week in Zone Athletics. Thank you to Mr Low, Mr Driscoll, Ms Palmer and Ms McKenzie.

Thank you to the Science Staff for organising this week’s ICAS Science examination.

Yesterday we held our first meeting to begin construction of our now fully approved Gymnasium / Multi-Purpose Centre. It is still a long process but we have started! The tender for the labs has been approved and we will have a timeframe soon.

Year 12 Drama enjoyed an interactive workshop which also formed part of their formative assessment. The workshop helped guide the process that are working on as they move towards the HSC.
