Principal’s Report

Farewell Ms Jen Burgess It is with very mixed emotions that we all say farewell to Ms Burgess. Ms Burgess came to us as a very early career teacher and leaves us as an expert classroom practitioner. From walking with our Cadet Unit and Duke of Edinburgh hikes, coaching teams to her leadership of our 7-10 High Resolves program, Ms Burgess always gives fully of herself. Her leadership and production of the 2015 Musical “Viva Mexico” reflected her drive to create memories for our many students.  Ms Burgess has always been actively involved in student welfare and this year took on the role of Year 7 Advisor and we have seen this year group transition smoothly under her guidance. Much loved by all students and staff, we will miss Ms Burgess and wish her a wonderful life and career in Melbourne.

Socialising in the holidays – It is very important that students are encouraged to go on outings with their classmates during the upcoming holidays. Independence must be taught and practised. Students should go out in groups and I will ask class captains to encourage these activities.

One of our most professional and student directed activities is Ruse Publications. The latest edition of Rusestar was distributed yesterday. Thank you to the student leaders of this project – Patrick So (12), Jumaana Abdu (11) and Raymond Wu (12). It is such a high quality, creative and engaging magazine – please download and read your copy: http://jamesruse.nsw.edu.au/about/publications

Year 8 subject selections – Thank you to our year 8 parents and students that attended the year 8 subject information night. Students will be submitting their applications online this year. Year 8 and 11 parent teacher meetings will occur on Monday afternoon between 4 and 7pm. Thank you to the fabulous year 9 and 10 students that presented so passionately about each subject. The photos below are of the Year 9 Elective Music class.

Thank you to the many parents who contributed to the success of our Mother’s Club Food Day on Tuesday. It is always wonderful to see the active support and service of our parents. I would also like to thank and acknowledge the support we have received from Eastwood Superfresh (Eastwood Village 8/1 Progress Ave, Eastwood) for their generous donation of all the vegetable ingredients and also Eastwood Meat Market (Shop 15a/ 1 Lakeside Rd, Eastwood) for donating all the chicken wings required for this food day.
