Making dreams come true. Thank you to the whole school community, past and present, for rallying to the request to send Mrs Parker’s daughter and her family to Disneyland. Her daughter, husband and two young children are leaving for Disneyland on 29 November as a result of all your efforts. We raised $10000 in a few short weeks to make this family time possible. Mrs Parker has served our school for more than two decades. As a school we are blessed that everyone is so supportive of each other, especially in sad times.

Informatics School of Excellence. Congratulations to Sai Muralidaran (9) who has also been invited to this year’s AIOC Informatics School of Excellence at ANU, Canberra on 9 – 19 December.

Artexpress. Congratulations to the following students who have been nominated possible inclusion in Artexpress this year: Anna Ye, Anna Zhong, Bryan Zhu and Sang Tran.

Years 8/10 mentoring launch. Thank you to our SRC for relaunching our years 8/10 mentoring program on Monday this week. With the support of the year advisers, Ms Webb and Mrs McKenzie and the DP Ms St Louis, we are connecting Year 10 mentors, who have been trained, and Year 8 mentees. As our students continue to work closely together, and know each other as individual human beings, and as learners, I expect that wonderful transformations will blossom as all students benefit from the interactions.

Yanco HS visit. We welcomed the annual prefect visitors from Yanco on Tuesday afternoon. Year 10 SRC guided them on a school tour. This was followed by Yanco sharing their activities with SRC and our prefects via a presentation they had brought with them.

Performers’ Evening Years 7 – 9. The audience enjoyed a wonderful performance presented by year 7 – 9 music students in the Lecture Theatre on Wednesday night. Congratulations to all the students on such a diverse range of talents. Thank you for the joy you bring to others.
Combined Mothers’ Club and COJR annual meeting I enjoyed meeting all the parents on Thursday morning. The reports were comprehensive and well received. I presented on the rationale for our focus as a school community on creativity. I really appreciate the way the executive of COJR, Mothers’ Club and food fair work together for the good of our school.

Parent Helpers’ Assembly and Morning Tea Friday 2 December 8.50. We are very fortunate that parents are very supportive of the school and that we work together for the education of our students. As another way of acknowledging this, we have organised a special quadrangle assembly followed by a morning tea in the staff common room for 2011 parent helpers. Please come along.

Ruse ID Training Day. Our Intranet is managed and maintained by a group 31 students, Ruse ID, supported by Mr Woo. On Tuesday morning they had a successful half day training day to enhance their skills.

Singapore Zhonghua Secondary School. Teachers from this school are visiting this Friday morning to share programs and ideas. It is good to see the international presence the school now has.

HTA Mastermind. Good luck to Eric Tan, Daniel Yan, Simon Yang and Harry Dong, who are participating in the History Teachers’ Association Mastermind this Friday at Seven Hills.

Remembrance Day Service 11 November. Sharon Mo and Brian Gao spoke very movingly at our assembly on Remembrance day. Cadets Eklavya Wangoo, Michelle Wang and Kelly Wu represented the school at the Remembrance Day service at Boronia Park RSL.

Air conditioning update. We will be putting in the air conditioners, starting with Cameron block, from 15 December, over 5 days. We will also start closing off the vents. Thank you to the COJR who has made this possible.
