Agricultural High Schools Together Music Concert Please come and support your child and the school as we present our combined high schools music concert on Monday 10 December at 7pm in the hall. The theme is “Mostly the Movies”. Our concert bands, our percussion ensemble and our wind chamber ensemble will be performing. Hurlstone Agricultural HS will showcase performances by their pops orchestra, their woodwind sextet and their jazz ensemble.

End of Year Music Concert The finale for our music concerts this year will be held at 6pm on 7th December. Let‟s continue to support our talented musicians by attending this celebration.
"An Afternoon with Toni Powell and Friends" Please come along at 3pm on Sunday 9 December to a programme of vocal music followed by afternoon tea - Toni will perform as will other invited singers, including several present-day James Ruse students. The costs are $20 for adults and $10 for students, with proceeds going to MS Research, Foundation 5 Million Plus. Tickets at the Accounts Office and at the door.
2011 Year Books All students should have received their Year Books this week. Thank you to Mr Goggin, Ms McMillan and all their student helpers for a magnificent production.
SRC ASPIRE values day Last Friday SRC organized and taught lessons all day, working with Year 7 on our school values: Acceptance, Service, Participation, Integrity, Respect and Endeavour. SRC are to be congratulated on their creative lessons. Year 7 had a very enjoyable learning day. Thank you Ms St Louis. The SRC tissue box drive was also very successful, with tissue boxes now distributed to all classrooms.

National Leaders Day Congratulations to Karina Shum, Karen Zheng and Alex Yeung who represented us at this leadership event at the Convention Centre Darling Harbour. This was organised by The Halogen Foundation and was run for young people who aspire to lead themselves and others well.
Archibull Presentation Agriculture enrichment had the judging of their bull last week. We are yet to find out the results. The bull was a blank canvas for a student presentation on issues regarding cotton production. The result was thoughtful and imaginative. Thank you to Mrs Hameed for leading this group.
Yanco Agricultural HS visit Prefects from Yanco visited us on Wednesday, their annual visit. Year 8 students took them on a farm tour; (our Year 11 were doing exams). Their prefects shared lots of interesting information about their school and asked lots of questions. The plan is that in 2013 our Year 7 students will visit Yanco and in 2014 their Year 7 students will come to us.
Kuwaiti Principals’ visit On Thursday we hosted a visit from 20 Kuwaiti principals, as part of their tour exploring school improvement processes. They watched a few classes in History, Maths and science, toured the farm, and had discussion sessions with staff on school programs. Thank you to Mr Stanley for organizing the visit. Visits such as these keep us on the world‟s stage as leaders in gifted education.
Year 6 OC teachers’ visit On Friday we hosted a visit from Year 6 teachers from seven primary schools. We had invited them for the day to share teaching programs, to learn about the students who are joining us next year and to present a number of programs we run. Thank you to Ms Brooks, our Year 7 adviser 2013, for organizing the day.
Debating This is an exciting week for debating. Twelve students from Years 9 and 10 are participating in the Sydney University Debating Tournament on Friday. Five Year 8 students – Justin Wu, Eva Sinha, Spencer Hu, Lesley Zhang and Jeffrey Khoo – have been invited to the three day state debate championships at Sydney University on 28 – 30 November.
Agriculture Review We have been participating in the state agriculture review. Members of the review committee are visiting this Friday afternoon. Thank you to the Year 11 students who will be meeting with them: Margaret Zhou, Michelle Wang (11A), Varshinee Urutherakumar, Jaffly Chen, Gary Xu, Terence Luo.
Jam Making Our students are branching out in their culinary skills. Using farm produce, and under Mr Pronger‟s guidance, the following students made jam in the cottage last week: Cameron Hinton, Michele Fu, Helen Sun, Susanna Li, Alice Yan, Yutong Ji, Harish Suresh, Felix Zhu, Michael Zhang, Samuel Lin, Joanne Liu, Sing-Young Chen and Michelle Wang (11A).
