Principal's Report: Week 8, Term 4 2011

Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme. It is good to see our students striving to be the best they can be. If you have achieved your Bronze Award in the D of E scheme, don’t forget to prepare for the Silver test hike at the end of this term.

Year 10 and 11 Performance Night. Once again the musical standards of our student performances were very high. It was an enjoyable night for all. Thank you to the parents who supported their children by their attendance.

UNSW International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS). In 2011 UNSW is celebrating 30 years of delivering ICAS. Our school was presented with a 30 year plaque because of the number of students winning medals in this competition from James Ruse. It will be displayed in the library.

SRC Regional Leadership Forum. Chelsea Valentin (10) represented the school at this forum on Wednesday this week.

Rural Youth NSW Executive visit. Thank you to the following Year 9 students who participated in this visit: Richard Tong, Georgia Zeng, Sarah Wu, Karen Zheng, Wilson Cheng on Monday morning.

Amnesty Schools Conference. Congratulations to the following students who participated in the Amnesty Schools Conference: Thanya Sritharan, Sophia Song, Brittany Xu, Kelly Wu, Catherine Yin, Pria Gurumahan, Rhonda Ung, Madeleine La, Kathy Zhang, Julia Liang, Yueyue Miao, Donna Zhuang, Helena Qian and Richard Tong. Such programs support the development of global citizenship understanding and skills.

Thursday 8 December: Year 10 Science excursion Macquarie Uni; Year 10 p4 – 5 Study skills seminar; Prefects Sport Tournament recess and lunch; End of Year Concert 7pm ( rehearsals all day)

Friday 9 December: Prefects Christmas Celebrations; P 4 – 5 Quad Assembly; P 1 – 3 Candy cane deliveries in class; Informatics Scholar School begins until 19/12.

Saturday 10 December: Cadet Annual camp begins until 18 December

Monday 12 December: Gala Day
