Just a brief newsletter this week to update everyone on some of our recent successes: William Liang (11) and Radman Zhang (12) have been invited to participate in the 2013 Oceania Junior Badminton Championships in Papeete, Tahiti during the April holidays. This championship is the biggest junior event in the region. We wish both students every success.

Our Year 11 debating team – Sai Muralidaran, Richard Tong, Stella Ye and Dev Kuhasri – won their debate against Kellyville High School on Monday. One of our chess teams competed in the Macquarie University Schools Chess Challenge which is a charity event to raise money to support the National Chess team. Congratulations to Andrew Pan (10), Frank Zhu (11), Lalit Prasad (11) and Jackie Wu (11) who achieved second place in the secondary division.

Our Year 12 Parent Teacher night is on Thursday 11th April between 3pm and 5pm. We are trialling a new electronic booking system for this night. Instruction sheets on how to log on for Year 12 parents are included later in the newsletter. Parents will also be emailed instructions and texted the event code for the night. Students of Year 12 will also be emailed instructions on Thursday morning. We are hoping that the electronic booking system ensures more effective communication between parents and teachers. We will ask Year 12 parents to assist us by filling in an evaluation form after the event.

HSC assessment is now over for the term. Year 12 will enjoy a well earned rest over Easter but will need to come back refreshed and ready for feedback and new topics next week.

The SRC led by Ms St Louis are to be commended for the wonderful work they have put into organising ASPIRE Day for Year 7. ASPIRE day introduces our school values – Acceptance, Service, Participation, Integrity, Respect and Endeavour – through student-led interactive activities. This year we have invited students from other SRC‟s to come and participate in our program.

Many of our swimmers will compete at the CHS State Carnival next Thursday and Friday. It is fabulous to have so many relay teams entered. We are very proud of this wonderful achievement and wish all participants the very best. On the Friday we have an unfortunate clash with the Athletics Carnival. Parents may be able to assist their students move between the two carnivals – that are both at Homebush. Any students concerned by the clash should see Mr Low, sports coordinator.
