SRC week is always a huge week at James Ruse. Mystery Monday was a wonderful start to the week with students receiving a James Ruse highlighter as a gift. The compliments wall was such a positive idea. Students were able to write an answer to the question: “What do I love about James Ruse?” The answers were written on post it notes and positioned on the SRC wall. Tactical Tuesday was an exciting day filled with activities to bolster school spirit. A spy training facility was created at recess to encourage students to try something new. Of course SRC week could not occur without a staff vs student game. Unfortunately because of the rain Dodgeball could not be played. Popcorn and drinks were on sale. Wednesday was a cold wet day but the students were warmed up by starting the day with hot chocolate. Fun and games continued with a baby photo guessing competition – (of the teachers). Wednesday night was the SRC annual dance and it was great to see so many students having fun. Thursday’s special event was the talent quest as well as the eating contest. Final Friday was mufti for the whole school and of course Crazy Hair day.
Another music evening occurred on Tuesday evening in the Lecture theatre. Thank you to Mr Wong and Mr Brus. As well, jazz Ensemble auditions continue this week for year 11 students.
Students are reminded that there are many jumpers, hats and ties in lost property. Also many mobile phones have been handed in. Please collect these before the holidays.
Year 10 is reminded that money is due now for the sale of the chocolates.
Friday morning continues to be a fitness training time with all years invited to attend Ms Burgess small weights and Pilates class before school.
Year 8 was lucky to have the Skyworks Planetarium come to school on Thursday. Thanks to Ms Fernandez who created a rotational system so all of year 8 could experience the fascination of the planets and the solar system.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish all students and their families a safe and happy holiday. Take this break as time to enjoy activities together as a family. Holidays are for fun and relaxation so that at the start of term three, all students are rested and capable of every success. Stay safe and healthy over the holidays.
I have been in contact with Mr Peter Rowsell, our School Education Director, who will lead the panel for the selection of a new principal. He hopes to have the advertisement ready for the end of July. By the time the process is finished, the new principal will be appointed at the start of term 4.
