The Community

bbq.jpg For any school to be successful there must be a co-operation and a mutual sense of purpose from students, parents and staff.  Parental co-operation is a vital part of all school activities and parents are encouraged to visit the school and see it in operation at all times. The parent body makes a most significant and generous contribution to the educational progress and welfare of the school.

Particular groups and activities are listed below and further information about some of them can be found in this section of the website:

  • The James Ruse Connection is an organisation for ex-parents and ex-members of staff
  • The James Ruse Agricultural High School Union accepts membership from all ex-students
  • An active Mothers' Club complements the community of James Ruse and has two daytime meetings a term at which fathers are also welcome.
  • The School Canteen, staffed by mothers of pupils, makes available wholesome lunches and other food items.  Students assist at recess and lunch by operating programmed cash registers.
  • A school uniform shop for both new and preloved uniforms is open every Tuesday and Wednesday from 8.00am-2.00pm and more often in times of high demand.  All funds raised by this initiative are directed back to areas of students’ needs within our school.
  • Working bees are held throughout the year.
